At TJM Promotions, we will accept a large variety of file types to help make your promotional product experience as easy as possible. While we do recommend certain file types for certain products and/or processes, keep in mind that we never charge for artwork if you place your order with us! So, fax us over that hand-drawn logo on the napkin from lunch. We'll be happy to work with you and develop your art into something that will turn into a quality product. See the information below for recommendations on setting up art files for sending to us.
File Types Currently Accepted: (.ai, .eps, .psd, .tif, .gif, .jpg, .doc, .docx, .pdf, .png, .zip, .rar, .indd)
Adobe Illustrator CS5 and Earlier (Vector Artwork) .ai, .eps, .pdf
Vectored art is best for spot coloring, text and selective colored logos on any promotional product that uses a silk screen printed method for production. Preferred file formats are .ai, .eps, and .pdf formats. Please convert all text into outlines prior to sending any art files. If images are placed into the vectored file, then all placed images must be included when submitting your art. NOTE: Raster images placed into Illustrator does not mean they are spot colored and/or vectored.
Adobe Photoshop CS5 and Earlier (Raster Artwork) .eps, .psd, .tif
Photoshop files and other high DPI raster images are best for photo work, four-color process printing, digital imaging and photo transfers. The best formats for raster art include .eps, .psd, and .tif, with images at a minimum of 300 dpi at full size. If you only have lower quality images, we will do what we can do to enhance your images. However, photos and other full color images are often difficult to enhance and reproduce. Other raster images types accepted are .jpg, .gif, and .png. These file types will require cleanup before the production process.
How to Get Your Files To Us (Submission)
Most of our artwork and quoting is done via email. If your file size is greater than 10 megabytes, please contact customer service so that we may setup ftp information for you to transfer larger sized artwork files. Keep in mind that all fonts embedded into vectored art must be turned into outlines prior to submission to our art staff. We also accept .zip and .rar files for those needing to submit multiple images or files. Because TJM Promotions works primarily in a PC format, we are unable to accept Mac stuffed files and other Mac proprietary file types.
Vector Artwork VS. Raster Artwork
For a more detailed demonstration of the difference between vector and raster artwork, refer to the images and descriptions below. Remember that vector art is always preferred over raster art for logos, text and other spot colored items. Raster art at a minimum of 300 dpi is preferred for photos and other four-color process items.
Vector Artwork Sample (200%)
When an image is enlarged or zoomed on a vectored artwork file, there is no loss in quality, regardless of zoom count. The vectored image data automatically reconfigures the image to the appropriate scale when enlarged or shrunk.
Raster Artwork Sample (200%)
When an image is enlarged or zoomed on a rastered artwork file, there is a tremendous loss in quality and crispness of the original image. These types of images are not recommended for printed promotional items.
